We’re ditching microblading. So WTF are nano brows?
If you’ve been looking into brow tattooing, you’ve probably heard of microblading. At Pixi, we’ve chosen nano brows instead.
Nano brows vs microblading — what’s the difference?
They might look similar at first, but the way they’re created is completely different.
Microblading uses a handheld blade to manually cut hair strokes into the skin and deposit pigment.
Nano brows are created with a cosmetic tattoo machine, using a fine needle to gently build each individual hair stroke.
At Pixi, we’ve chosen to offer nano brows rather than traditional microblading. The machine technique gives us more control over the depth and placement of each stroke and allows us to create soft, delicate, natural long term results without using a blade.
Will nano brows look natural?
That’s kind of the whole point.
Every set of nano brows at Pixi is customised to your existing brows, face shape, natural hair growth and what you actually want from them.
Rather than creating one brow shape for everyone, we work with what you already have — filling sparse areas, improving symmetry and adding definition while keeping the front and edges soft.
Freshly tattooed brows will always look darker and more defined initially. As they heal, the colour softens and the finished result becomes much more subtle.
Who are nano brows good for?
Nano brows can be a great option if you:
✶ Have sparse or uneven brows
✶ Want to fill gaps without wearing brow makeup every day
✶ Have over-plucked brows that never fully grew back
✶ Want more shape while keeping a fluffy, natural look
✶ Like the appearance of individual brow hairs rather than a filled-in makeup effect
If you prefer a little more definition, nano strokes can also be combined with soft shading to create combination brows.
What is the healing process like?
Like lip blush and eyeliner tattooing, your brows need time to heal and settle.
They’ll initially appear darker and sharper, before softening throughout the healing process. You may notice some light flaking, patchiness or areas that appear lighter while the skin is healing — this is all part of the process.
Your final healed result is assessed once the skin has had time to fully recover.
A perfecting touch-up may be recommended to refine any areas that have healed lighter or make small adjustments to the shape or colour.
How long do nano brows last?
Nano brows are semi-permanent, meaning they gradually fade over time rather than staying the same forever.
How quickly they fade varies depending on your skin type, lifestyle, skincare, sun exposure and how your skin retains pigment.
Keeping them looking soft and natural is the goal — we’d much rather have brows that fade beautifully over time than brows that become too heavy or saturated.
